Collectors distinguish different perforation or perforation sizes, which are determined by counting the number of holes per two centimeters. Perforation gauges come in various versions manual measurement or by an optical measurement.
A manual perforation gauge is a kind of ruler made of plastic for measuring the perforation on it you can let the distances overlap with your stamp.Another version can work with pins that all have to fall exactly in the teeth, this is easy if you want to measure e.g. in the middle of a stamp sheet. The digital one is the most luxurious version where the perforation is optically tested. Everywhere a perforation meter is therefore an indispensable instrument for the serious stamp collector.
The PERFOtronic provides absolutely reliable measurement results for all Stamps small or large, Coil stamps etc in just a few seconds by optical-electronic means. This PERFOtronic performs the measurement is completely contact-free using light sensors and therefore does not pose any risk to the stamps, in the process it automatically descends upwards or downwards to the nearest perforation numbers given in the catalogs at 1/4 intervals.
The processor is even capable of extrapolating the number of teeth for stamps with missing or defective teeth. The readings can be set to quarter values, e.g. 14.25 (as listed in the catalogs) or - now new - to 1/100 accuracy (e.g. 14.21)!
